Please join us in saving the animals of Alger County by making a contribution toward our new building.

After countless months of fighting our County to allow us to continue rescuing animals in our current facility while maintaining our no-kill status, we are heartbroken to share that our days in our current facility are numbered. After generously having received a piece of land to build our new facility on, we will soon begin construction! Our next step: raise enough funds to see the process through.

Not only were we gifted a piece of land to operate on, we have also been pledged a matching donation of $25,000. Every dollar that is donated to us, will be matched dollar for dollar up to $25k until the end of 2023! There is no such thing as a donation too small.

Additionally, for those able to donate $500 or more, we will permanently acknowledge the generosity by hanging a plaque of sponsorship in the new building.

About us – we are located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and we have a strict no-kill policy. All of the animals that enter our shelter are treated with veterinary care and then placed into loving homes.

We serve the animals within our county but we also aid in helping shelters outside of our county, kennel availability permitting, in order to relieve the stress of the local shelters who are at maximum capacity, as most are these days. Currently, we are housing numerous dogs and cats, and in 2022, we saw over 150 animals enter into our shelter, all while achieving a 100% no-kill status.

A memorial fund was set up in Finn’s name to help future animals living at ACAS with special medical needs).

What is Finn’s Fund?  Finn was a pit bull puppy found in the outside run at the ACAS on May 15, 2013. Finn was very listless for a puppy and when he was brought to Thompson Veterinary Clinic it was discovered that Finn had a heart condition. Finn, was in need, of surgery and Thompson Vet graciously agreed to do the surgery free of charge.

Finn’s surgery was scheduled for June 24, 2013. Unfortunately, Finn passed away while undergoing his surgery.

For the short time he was with us, Finn touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. A memorial fund was set up in Finn’s name to help future animals living at the ACAS with special medical needs.
